Glueing metal models

How to Glue metal without pins

The wisdom from many is to pin seperate parts of the model together. This is no doubt fine, and if you are happy with that then stay with it.

I personally cannot be bothered with it. When I get a wargame figure the assembly is the least interesting part for me, so I want to glue them and then get on with painting etc.

What you need

I do NOT use super glue (unless the models are tiny). I use araldite, a slow setting strong adhesive.

The advantage is that you can be fumble fingered and reposition things.

The disadvantage is that you have to fix the position whil it dries.

And this is done using lots of blue tack. Big lumps and bands of it.

Sorry if you find this too obvious to deserve a web page, but it took me a little while to settle on this method.

For instance, here is an Eldar having his wings put on. I'd already done his arms some time earlier.

Lumps of blue tack at the base of the wings, bands of blue tac over the back of the wings, and other lumps at the top of the wings.

Lots and lots of blue tac solves the problem of how to hold things in place.

Finally. Your sqad all have their wings on, but they must now be resting some place which will not move while they dry.

I have a (hand made) MDF box for this. Note in some cases I've even blue taced the model to the box to stop them moving.

Box then goes up high until the next day.
